WriteFreely, the software that powers this site, is built to enforce your right to privacy by default.
It retains as little data about you as possible, not even requiring an email address to sign up. However, if you do give us your email address, it is stored encrypted in our database. We salt and hash your account's password.
A cookie is used to keep you logged into your account, for your convenience. It however, does not track you across the web, or anywhere- for that matter.
This instance of writefreely is run by an individual, (an artist,) and has no connection to the people who wrote the software by which we are using, that this site runs on. It is, however – a free speech zone.
I set this up so people would have a place to write, unencumbered by the tech giants.
